Wednesday November 13th was National Signing Day and three of Orange’s amazing athletes signed to further their athletic careers at the collegiate level The three student athletes that signed were Maya Hendricks to play volleyball at Tennessee State University, Tanner Davidson to play lacrosse at Walsh University and Zane Latting to play baseball at the University of Charleston in West Virginia.
The signing took place after school in the library. The event started off with the new athletic director, Brett Diehl, saying a few words about the athletes and then he handed it off to the individual coaches.
After the event, Diehl went on to say, “We have an amazing senior class of athletes and we are all excited to see what they do in the future.”
Katie Duy, the head volleyball coach, started off by talking about Hendricks. She spoke about the fire she has on the court and the love for the game that she showed during practice and games.
Next, Tom Marker stepped up to say a few words about Lattig. He talked about is dedication to the sport and the fact that he is a dual sport athlete is an amazing thing.
The lacrosse coach, Jarrod Gilliam, unfortunately was unable to attend and he had Diehl speak in place of him about Davidson. The event wrapped up with each student signing their papers and their families and teammates applauding them for their accomplishments.
All of the athletes worked hard for their accomplishments and put in the time and effort it took to reach their goals.
“It’s an amazing feeling when you finally achieve what you’ve been working so hard on for so long,” Hendricks said.
