Orange Media publications are official student-produced mediums of news and information published by the Journalism students of Olentangy Orange High School. The publications have been established as a designated public forum for student journalists to inform, educate and entertain readers as well as for the discussion of issues of concern to their audience. They  will not be reviewed or restrained by school officials, adults or sources prior to publication.

The content of the publications is determined by and reflects only the views of the student staff and not school officials or the school itself. They will not publish any material, determined by the staff or adviser, that is libelous, obscene or disruptive to the school day.

The advisers are Kari Phillips and Brian Nicola. Readers may respond to the publications through Letters to the Editor. Letters may be mailed, e-mailed to thecourierstaff@gmail.com or dropped off to room 2223. The staff asks that submissions be 300 words or less and contain the author’s name and signature. Editors reserve the right to edit or withhold publication of letters.

The publications strive to uphold the Canons of Professional Journalism, which includes accuracy, impartiality, etc. Therefore, major errors will be corrected in the next issue. Distinction will be marked between news and opinion stories.

Taking it up to the 13th floor: Haunted houses open for Halloween

Spooky season is around the corner. Looking for a good scare? Check out these local haunted houses this fall season!

 

First off there is a well known haunted house called the 13th floor once known as the Scareatorium. This has a 3.8 star rating, according to their website and offers many attractions such as mini escape games, axe throwing and obviously, of course, the haunted house. 

 

“I liked the rush and going with friends,” Junior Reina Sautter said. Prices depend on the day a person might attend, but mostly range between $20-30. This attraction includes many clowns, like 2016 all over again and would be an event not to miss out on. 13th floor is open from Sept. 13 through Nov. 9. Looking for a spookier option? Check out Haunted Hoochie. The Haunted Hoochie claims to be rated one of the top Haunted houses in Ohio, according to . “One of the coolest nights of my life,” junior Mckenna Mconnell said. Prices start in the low $20 for general admission, not including the added fees. The prices depend on the day a person might attend. The highest tickets sell for is $43, and the Haunted Hoochie is open Sept. 19 through Nov. 3. However, this place only offers one main attraction: the haunted house. It not only includes clowns but also many other creepy sites to scare the socks off visitors. The Haunted Hoochie is located at 13861 Broad St SW, Pataskala, OH 43062. Now, haunted houses are well known to most students but consider spending the night in one. At the Harrison House Bed and Breakfast, visitors can do just that. Although not labeled as one, the Harrison House, an old Victorian home, has claimed to having some paranormal activity as it has been around for quite some time. With a whopping 4.6 star rating, nothing could beat a night spent in a real haunted house, according to source. Critics say “amazing experience” and “a cool night” listed on the website as well as claiming it to currently be ranked No. 2 in Columbus with its service and location. Pricing for this attraction starts from about $100 to $150 depending on the room chosen, length of stay and is open year round.
