Sticking together

May 8, 2018

Playing in division I, the girls of lacrosse team have been pushing them to be their best this season.

According to OHSAA region one of girls lacrosse includes  Anthony Wayne, Brunswick, Delaware Hayes, Medina, New Albany, Olentangy, Olentangy Liberty, Olentangy Orange, Perrysburg, Strongsville, Sylvania Northview, Wadsworth, Westerville Central, Westerville North and Westerville South, making it 15 teams in total.

So far in the season “Westerville Central was a tough component so far. They really killed it in the first half, but they began to give up the second half which allowed us to have such a big lead,” junior Tyler Bluvol said.

In order to be as successful as possible they spend as much time together on the field as they can.

The girls “practice six days a week for two hours. Once we get into numerous games, depending on what we need to cover, it will be about an hour and a half,” Coach Megan Noone said.

With a lot of time together, the team grew as one and learned what it takes to be great. They have become super close and have learned to love and support one another

“This group of girls is very special. In my history at Orange, this is the best well rounded group I have coached. High energy, fun and enthusiasm is present. The girls are working hard and getting out of their comfort zones which will only help them in games.  I think this season will be very memorable with this group led by a great senior class,” Noone said.

This year, the team has taken a different approach to the season, in hopes to be the strongest it has ever been.

“The girls lacrosse program is on a “ Leave a Legacy” path this year. The goal is to leave the program and jersey better than they found it. In order to do that the girls and the program must buy into the process of being on a positive energy bus. Every the day the goal is to “ fuel up the tank” with positivity and unity and the empty the tank come game time. The girls want to take their game and effort to another level this 2018 season”.

This year the team has eight seniors leading the way.

“Each senior is leader for us which is helping with performance and experience on the field. We have Kailee O’Brien, Corynn Schneider, Jillian Neuman, Bella Lindell, Lauren Clary, Melanie Neuman, Hannah Lower and Regan Keane,” Noone said.

According to the girls lacrosse twitter page they have earned the fifth place seed in Division I, Region I for the pst season. The girls will play on May 14 at 6 p.m. at home against Anthony Wayne.
